The Name. Shaden was walking in the woods with his dog ,Lilly. It was quite peaceful with nothing but Shaden, Lilly, the birds chirping, and the sunset. But what Shaden did not know was that there was one more person there with them. Who was it? Did Shaden know this person? I don’t know this, but what I did know was that this person wanted to kill Shaden. Shaden was almost to the spot that he and Lilly would sit and he would write his novels, The Adventures of Lift the Dog, when Lilly started to bark furiously at the bush then she started to whimper. Shaden became scared for Lilly and led her the other way. This third party was behind that bush. When Shaden and Lilly reached their destination Shade wrote for a minute then he fell asleep as did Lilly. After this happened the third party took his move, first he killed Lilly and then stuffed Shaden in a duffle bag. I followed this mysterious kidnaper determined to figure out who he was, save Shadon, and stop this killer so no one else would get hurt.
When Shaden woke up he found out real quickly that he was in a stone maze. He started to rub his head.
“ What happened Lilly?” Shaden asked and looked around and could not find Lilly, “ Lilly, Lilly, Lilly?” Then he found the duffel bag and he looked inside and saw Lilly dead.
“Why, why did it have to be her and not me?” Shaden walied.
“Because you are next,” said a bodiless voice, “ if you can not guess my name in five hours, your first clue is in the center of the maze be quick because for every hour you are hear I kill one of the people that are close to you, goodbye Shaden.”
I will do this for my family and Lilly. So Shaden ran as fast as he could and found the first clue in forty five minutes. He then read it aloud, “ Good job my dear Shaden, you have found the first clue now if you want to guess my name think of a rock. What?”
Shaden heard clapping then the voice again
“Wonderful, now close your eyes,” Shaden did as told, “ now open your eyes, as you see in front of you is a lake and some oxygen your next clue is at the bottom of the lake, by the way it has been an hour and your sweet grandmother is going to die bye-bye.”
“I have to do this I will, even though I can’t swim I will try and succeed at this,” Shaden thought aloud. So Shaden put on the oxygen mask turned it on and put it on his back. He then dove into the lake but as he thought it wasn’t that easy there were sharks that would wake up if he swam past them to fast then a squid that wanted to eat him at the bottom but he finally got the clue and got back to the top without being eaten alive. He took once he was beached he took the diving gear off and read the clue.
“I am as black as soot,” He thought a little bit, “ a rock that is as black as soot.”
“Well done it has only been thirty minutes and you have thirty more to find the last clue until mommy gets it hurry up.” Shaden ventured on through the only door that was going to lead him out of the room.
To Shadens surprise he found himself in a coliseum and in the center of this room was a note that read, “ As you can see there is a chest plate, a shield, and a rack of weapons, you should choose wisely among the weapons because you get the one that you choose to fight my three tigers, by the way you will find the last clue in the stomach of one of the tigers.” Shaden chose the ax and the weapons then disappeared. Then the tigers came. It took Shaden an hour and a half to kill all three tigers and look in all of their stomachs he finally found the clue and read it. “ This is the final clue my name can be burnt to produce heat and cook things, what is my name?” As Shaden went through the tunnel he kept rolling the clues through his head I am a rock, I Am soot black, and Can be burnt. Then it came to him.
He had just come to him as he entered the last room. Then he saw the dead bodies of his grandmother, mother, his father. Then the voice was there again but with a body this time.
“ Good job you were much faster than any other person. So do you know my name yet or not?”
“ I do.”
“ then what is it?”
“ Your name is Coal.”
“ It is and now you still die.”
“ No I do not, you do.” Shaden pulled the ax out and slaughtered Coal and I jumped out from the ducts and took Shaden home to his grandpa.
